Fair-use message policy

Hellotext includes non-SMS messaging under a fair-use model. A variable messaging amount is calculated for the month, but it becomes the Hellotext charge only when it is higher than the plan minimum, performance fee, and SMS costs.

Which messages this covers

The published variable rate covers messages sent through supported non-SMS channels such as WhatsApp, Webchat, Instagram Direct, Facebook Messenger, and Mercado Libre.

SMS uses its own country and plan pricing. Meta fees for WhatsApp are paid directly to Meta, not Hellotext.

How the variable amount is calculated

The current published rate is US$2 per 1,000 non-SMS messages. Hellotext calculates the amount from eligible message volume for the billing period.

Use the public Hellotext pricing page to confirm the current rate.

When it is charged

Hellotext compares the variable messaging amount with:

  • the plan minimum;
  • the performance fee; and
  • SMS costs.

If any of those three is higher, the variable messaging amount is not added. If the variable amount is the highest, it becomes the Hellotext charge for the month.

Example

  • Plan minimum: US$74
  • Performance fee: US$30
  • SMS costs: US$0
  • 50,000 eligible non-SMS messages: US$100 at the published rate

The Hellotext charge is US$100 because the variable messaging amount is the highest. Hellotext does not add the other three amounts.

What this does not include

The fair-use comparison does not remove applicable taxes or Meta’s separate WhatsApp fees. Meta charges and collects those fees directly; they are not part of the Hellotext invoice. Custom enterprise services can also follow their own agreement.
